“We should consider every day lost on which we haven't danced at least once”
At Choreotheque School of Contemporary Dance, we believe that dance should be something fun, something that takes your mind off the daily grind and allows you to explore your space, your mind and connect with your body.
Started in 2006, Choreotheque was established to provide a platform to anyone with an interest in dance.
It is the brainchild of Anish who believes that the power of dance is such that it converts an interest to passion in anyone who is touched by it. It is this very passion that inspired Anish to give up a career in Software Engineering to devote his life to dance.
Since then he has travelled and trained at various schools in India and UK, trying to find his own vocabulary. He has recently received a Masters degree in Fine Arts/Choreography from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London) and is the only Indian recipient of this degree.
Choreotheque School of Contemporary Dance as it stands today is a speciality Contemporary Dance Institute that deals with the dance forms of Contemporary, Hip Hop, Bollywood Jazz, Jazz Funk, Salsa, Bachata & Merengue. The stress is on imparting the nuances of dance and developing the technique. A typical class at Choreotheque begins with a warm up, moving into technique training and ends with the choreography. Choreography is important as it helps with muscle memory, mental agility, concentration, and at the same time it also teaches the important essence of teamwork and respecting one’s boundaries.
